Short Bio
Corina holds a degree in law from the Aristotelian University in Thessalonica, Greece, and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International and European Law from the University of Leicester, UK.
Projects and work
Corina works primarily on a UNHCR funded project entitled Strengthening Asylum. The project offers legal and social support, free of charge, to asylum seekers and recognized refugees in Cyprus. Other responsibilities within the scope of the project include raising awareness on related issues, promoting the rights of the beneficiaries of the project and offering consultation to other bodies and organizations running similar projects.
Other projects Corina has also been involved in are, The Unit for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture, a project implemented by FWC under the national European Refugee Fund, as a legal advisor on a part-time basis; Contributing to a research project under the Ministry of Interior titled ‘Inclusion/Exclusion of Refugees in Cyprus’. Legal expert for Cyprus in the research project carried our by the VU Amsterdam University and the Federation of Dutch Associations for the Integration of Homosexuality, COC Netherlands. The subject of the project is “Fleeing Homophobia. Seeking Safety in Europe. Best Practices on the (Legal) Position of LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex) Asylum Seekers in the EU Member States” and it is financed by the ERF and the Dutch Ministry of Justice. Contributing to a research project carried out by The Refugee Council Hesse (Hessischer Flüchtlingsrat) in collaboration with the asylum counselling agency Gießen (Verfahrensberatung Gießen) in Germany. The subject of the project is Dublin II returnees. The aim of the project is to gather information about the situation of returnees in Europe in order to enable refugee counselling agencies and lawyers to better prepare and inform asylum seekers who are about to be transferred to the responsible state.
