The institute carried out monthly water quality monitoring in the Strait of Istanbul including its’ Black Sea and Marmara Sea exits between 1996 and 2010. Another main project on monitoring of the water quality and biodiversity in accordance with MSFD has been conducted in the Anatolian coast of the Black Sea since 2004.
