Relation to Future Worlds Center

Partners with Future Worlds Center in the MARINA project.

The Fundacao EurOceanis presently composed of 13 Members, which are key European marine research and funding organisations as well as groups focussed on marine outreach. Members are FCT (PT), GeoEcoMar (RM), IEO (ES), Ifremer (FR), IMR (NO), IOPAS (PL), MI (IE), VLIZ (BE), FRCT-Azores (PT), NAUSICAÄ (FR), IOI-international Ocean Institute (Malta), CNR (Italy) and CESAM (Portugal). Cooperating members are the IOC-UNESCO (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission), CPRM (Conference of the Peripheral Maritime Regions) and FdM (Fondation de Malte). As such EurOcean has strong connections with national and international bodies related to marine research, its application and dissemination of best practises and information in the marine field.

Focus activities are: 1) development and maintenance of InfoBases of marine relevant information and knowledge; 2) analysis and synthesis of information to help understanding of investments in marine research 3) communications & dissemination of information on marine research activities and projects. EurOcean has participated in more than a dozen FP7 and H2020 projects and of particular relevance to this proposal is its work in relation to knowledge management and Mutual Mobilisation & Learning projects. EurOcean hosts the Knowledge Gate (KG) InfoBase which contains information on all marine projects funded by a wide range of European funding programmes including FP, H2020 and Interreg III and IV. It also includes information on a range of nationally funded projects. EurOcean has carried out an analysis of this database in relation to MSFD relevant research as part of the STAGES project. Moreover the KG hosts a range of Knowledge Outputs for a number of projects, work carried out as part of the MarineTT project. This work is now being extended as part of the H2020 COLUMBUS project. EurOcean has led on communications and organised awareness raising and stakeholder activities as part of the Sea for Society MML relevant project.
