SDDP Greens - Cyprus

Executive Summary
Three meetings have been conducted at Cyprus Green party's premises with all interested stakeholders in order to analyse and identify the reasons of why even though many citizens appreciate and respect the ideas of the Greens they do not get involved or support the movement with their votes when needed. The meetings were structured as an SDDP which was implemented at the party’s headquarters in three face-to-face sessions totaling 9 hrs and 45 min on the 11th of September (3 hrs), 26th September (3 hrs and 15 min), and 12th of November (3hrs and 30 min) of 2013.
The Triggering Question (TQ) of the first workshop was:
"Ποιοι είναι οι λόγοι που παρόλο που πολλοί πολίτες εκτιμούν και σέβονται τις ιδέες του Κινήματος των Οικολόγων Περιβαλλοντιστών, δεν εμπλέκονται και δε στηρίζουν με την ψήφο τους όταν χρειάζεται;"
In response to the TQ, the 13 participants came up with 89 challenges, which were categorized into 13 clusters. Following the voting process, 30 ideas received one or more votes, with 14 ideas having received two or more. The latter were structured during the final phase-to-face session to create the influence MAP shown below.
According to the participants of this workshop, the reasons that appear to be the most influential were:
- Reason #37: Οι νέοι δε μας γνωρίζουν - τρανταχτή απουσία από τον ιστοχώρο
- Reason #24: Δεν έχουν χρήσιμες μετρήσιμες δημιουργικές και μόνιμες προτάσεις - λύσεις
- Reason #21: Δεν γνωρίζει κάποιον/α για να τον φέρει κοντά
- Reason #10: Δεν προτείνει ριζικές αλλαγές
- Reason #50: Έλλειψη δημιουργικότητας στη προσέλκυση νέων μελών και συμμάχων
Followed by:
- Reason #23: Δεν έχουν πείσει ότι μπορούν να κυβερνήσουν ή να επιλύσουν σοβαρά προβλήματα.
- Reason #15: Κομματική πόλωση..
- Reason #45: Οριζόντια ψήφος.
The workshop was mainly facilitated by Yiannis Laouris and Katerina Fotiou.
In sum, the participants of the dialogue reported their satisfaction that they had the opportunity to exchange ideas regarding the reasons why they don't get much support when needed and got a visual representation of how they could address the obstacle.
